Level of character: 80
Previous guild affiliations (if any): I'm currently with a very good guild named Choice, and prior to that Circle of Akimbo Justice
Additionally, why did you leave your previous guild(s)? I transferred to Choice after 2+ years with a casual guild that eventually fell apart as long time members moved on in their lives (Circle of Akimbo Justice). My current guild is an excellent, well managed, progression oriented guild. Unfortunately, I have two challenges right now pushing me to look for another option.
My work hours were changed slightly two weeks ago. So, making the 25 mile commute home, picking up the 1 year old from daycare, and throwing a dinner together all before the 6 PM raid start time has become a challenge worthy of “The Amazing Race.” Or “Cops”, you might see me on Cops for driving like a maniac trying to get home in time.
My second challenge is that my current guild has turned out to be more hard core than I anticipated. While I do read up on my class on sites like Elitist Jerks, research boss fights, arrive on time and fully prepared with my own consumables for every raid, I no longer have the time in my life to play 7 days a week fine tuning my character like I used to.
My current guild pours over WWS and WOL reports, posts public reviews on each raider regularly on their website, and is in general constantly assessing every member’s contribution at all times. But for me, this is a bit more intensity than I had planned on – it has become less a game I log on to enjoy with good friends, and more like a second job in the evening I am reporting to.
Did you leave in good standing? Do you have any references that we can contact? I am still an active member in my current guild, but would of course leave with appropriate notification and much thanks to everyone there. To be honest, I don’t think they would be too sad to see me go. I think they’d prefer to fill my spot someone who can dedicate themselves to the level they need.
How did you hear about our guild? Warcraft’s guild recruitment forum
References within Knights of Tranquility (if any): None
What times do you normally play (we typically raid from 7-10 Pacific time on weeknights, and noon onwards on weekends): 7 PM – 10:30 PM would be perfect, although I am looking to raid two nights per week.
What is your WoTLK raiding experience: I came back from taking 10 months off for WoW “maternity leave” in January of this year. Since then, I have completed Naxx 25, and Ulduar 25 up through Vezax – the guild has Yogg down as well, I was out of town that week. I am also 5/5 for ToC 25 man, normal mode. You can review my armory link for specific achievements, if you’re interested.
I have been playing Warcraft since late December, 2005 though. I’m a long-time addict, I’ve just moderated how much I’m playing since I got back into it.
Can you commit to spending 3-4 hours for an instance (not necessarily every day, but just on a particular day)? Do you have RL commitments that would prevent you from attending raids? 3 – 4 hour raids, twice a week is ideal, and I have no problems making that schedule. The only conflict would be the last week of every quarter, where my husband and I put in some longer hours (we’re both in high tech).
Why do you wish to join the guild? Please cite specific examples of what you like about our guild charter or what you have heard about us. A couple of things stuck out as I read through your recruitment post, and what I’ve read on your forum:
Mercurio’s signature “putting the play back into MMORPH.” I’m looking for a guild that plays WoW as a break from their real lives, to have fun and play hard together.
I’m 42, married, have a full time job in IT in the Seattle area, and an 18 month old daughter that has become the center of my world. As a result, I’m looking for a like-minded guild of adults that are also trying to juggle their real life responsibilities while getting some regular time together in game.
What makes you laugh? In no particular order, Robin Williams, the movie Galaxy Quest, murlocs, Monty Python, Mr. Bean, and tickling my daughter.
What song or book or movie has been most inspirational to you?Tough to name just one, again in no particular order – East of Eden by Steinbeck, the original Star Trek series, the Song of Ice and Fire series by Tad Williams, Pearl Jam, U2’s “It’s a Beautiful Day”, my father, etc.
What do you want to be when you grow up? Do I have to grow up? I’m having too much fun doing it all over again with my 18 month old. But, if I had to choose a second career, it would probably be as food critic (I love to cook) or a travel writer.
If you could be any animal, what kind of animal would you be, and why? I would choose a hawk or eagle, who wouldn’t want to be able to fly? I fantasize about this most often while stuck in Seattle’s endless stop and go traffic.
Say you were stranded on a desert island, but could bring one sandwich with you. What kind of sandwich would it be?It would be the ultimate Italian sub with real, cured Italian meats and melted provolone, over a soft, crusty French bread with a generous dose of oil and vinegar. I’d need some red wine to go with that, of course.
